In 1964, Martin Cohen, a young mechanical engineer, photographer and Latin music aficionado, founded Latin Percussion. He solicited feedback for his first percussion instruments from NYC musicians at Latin nightclubs. Cohen established a tradition that is still practiced at LP; the needs of performing musicians are placed ahead of everything else. Proudly, LP has created hundreds of the finest percussion instruments that can be heard in the worlds most famous, chart-topping recordings in every genre. LP is honored to commemorate its 50th Anniversary with limited edition congas, bongos and cowbell. 30" tall, 3-ply North American Hickory wood, with fiberglass layer on inside-upper portion of the shell for added strength. Natural rawhide heads & Premium Galaxy Gold hardware. Extended Collar Comfort Curve II Rims. Reinforced LP Heart side plates with rubber gaskets and 3/8" diameter tuning lugs.
